A brand I love: Rosairus

Rosairus - Handmade in Los Angeles II The story of the founder
Today I would like to tell you more about a friend of a friend that I truly admire. Camilla Behrens is the owner, designer, marketing manager, sales person and so much more of the brand "Rosairus". But I'll let her tell you more about her ideas and passion!

Camilla

My name is Camilla Behrens, I'm a designer, maker and entrepreneur. My grandfather is a painter, and my mother taught me to how to sew. As a baby I would sit in my little chair, and watch her sew. I founded Rosairus in 2010, I started out with making made-to-order dresses, and later on it turned in to small collections. But it wasn't until May 2013 that I opened my Etsy shop, after I graduated from UCLA.
Her background
I'm originally from Denmark, but I've been living in Los Angeles since 2008. I've definitely been on a creative journey ever since leaving Denmark.
After moving here, I took classes in print making and interior design, and I even went back to Denmark for a year to study technology and design. I ended up studying graphic design at UCLA, and I've never regret that decision! It's taught me a lot about design, branding, self promotion, and most importantly; the story I want to communicate with my products. Currently I work with fashion branding for a jeans company here in Los Angeles, and in my spare time I'm making new Rosairus products, updating the Etsy shop, doing photo shoots or working on other freelance projects.
What Rosairus meant to her
Rosairus is very dear to me. I make new products whenever I feel inspired, I love the feeling that it's not forced. Making my own pieces is therapeutic to me. I love the whole process, from sourcing leather in Downtown LA or sketching new ideas for a textile, to cutting, sewing and making the canvas totes, leather jewelry and organic scarfs. The magic happens during the process! It's very rare that I sketch. It mostly comes through my hands from my head.
What is the story behind Rosairus?
Rosairus is inspired by nature and geometry. I love trees and since I have a background in graphic design, a lot of my designs are very graphic, using a lot of geometric shapes. I use reclaimed leather, all shapes are hand cut, and the scarfs are made of 100% organic cotton, using only water based non-toxic dyes. It's important to me that Rosairus is as sustainable as possible.
The search for passion & the dedication to make your dreams come true
I've been fortunate enough to meet a lot of amazing creative talented people here in Los Angeles, and we all encourage and support each other. It's a great place to be as an entrepreneur, because you're allowed to have big dreams here. No one judges you, and we try to help each other as much as possible. It's really important to find a great support system in LA, or else you'll quickly get lost. A lot of people with a lot of dreams. It crucial to figure out what you're really passionate about, and do everything you can to make it happen.
And there is more...
Rosairus Etsy shop opened in May, and this is only the beginning. A lot of exciting things are happening this fall, so remember to follow Rosairus on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest
Thank you Camilla for sharing your thoughts! I can't wait to see the future pieces of yours!
Where to find more info or those cute items?

Skyscrapers, fizz and beautiful gardens!

There we go again! Another exciting day filled with unlimited fun is coming to an end. Coca Cola's wish to make us happy has succeeded! (although I am still a little mad that they didn't tell us their secret formula for the historic brown drink) A vault, the Coke ice bear, 4D movie, little bits and pieces of the history of Coke and OF COURSE the grand room in which a tour around the world - with our very own taste buds - was possible. The best part about this room was to watch people falling in love with drinks or absolutely hating other (mostly overly sweet or very bitter) drinks...

Coca Cola = A marketing wonder!
(click on the link to watch a very interesting background story about Coke)
I definitely belong to the Coca Cola part of the population. Pepsi just can't reach it :)
I feel bubbly!

The vault! - Well, sorry. We still don't know the secret formula!

Everybody that knows me in person, also realizes that one activity is just not enough fun in the day! The next stop after a delicious lunch at Einstein Bros Bagels was the Atlanta History Museum! What a magic place. For a couple of hours we got lost in the 18th century! The little farm on the property used to be the home of a tremendously wealthy family (measured on the amount of slaves they "owned"). Naturally, we had to pay a visit to the Swan House which really reminded me European "mansions"! Last but definitely not least, we enjoyed looking at the diversity of Georgia's plants! No clue what there is to see inside the museum, but I will certainly go back to the gardens. Magic place for enjoying a sunny day like today!

Buster, our new friend! We even helped bringing him to bed!

FUN day! (I took this picture when we had a "restroom emergency". As I saw the security guy pass by I worked my cute dress and slight German accent to get a free ride on the golf cart!) :)

Diving into another world...

Another day went by far too fast. Good night beautiful sun and thank you for giving me this amazing tan already. (Ja Ja Mami, I am using sun screen :) )

Besides the another exceptionally adorable sunset, the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park gave us lots of opportunities to dive into another world and pay attention to the little things. Felt like a child again observing fish, crabs and colorful birds.
The perfect chocolate. Rich Dark. 65% Cocoa, yet not bitter at all. Bought it because of the tempting packaging (see outside here https://www.chocolove.com ). Upon "unboxing" I only realized that the maker of this chocolate knew how to put the savorer into the right mood for enjoying it. Love poem included. Enjoying life one piece at a time :)

Palm tree decoration "the Florida way". Somehow kitchy, but it puts a smile on my face every morning.

Feeling like polkadots today. Oh and yes, my German friends. Wearing shorts.

Just started watching LOST last week and this park reminds me a lot of the Hawaiian scenery they show (of course without the mountains etc. etc.). This is exactly what I love about America. In which direction could you drive for 5 hours in Germany (or Europe) and find such diverse environment?

Nature walk/watch in the resort close by. Those seashells were actually moving (crab inside) and the other little friend kept peaking outside his home.

Trying to blend in as much as I can with my very patriotic tire. Neighbor had some fireworks after sunset for Memorial Day. Dogs were scared :/

Unwinding on the beach, watching the fisherman and talking to people. Charlotte is hilariously into fishing and is dedicated to be a "pro" after the week here.

Other noteworthy highlights of the day:
Saw a dolphin in free territory for the first time in my life. He was jumping around and reveled the high waves.

Evelyn gave me a complete sand body rub today after swimming in the ocean. Best treatment for the skin (I am as soft as the bootie of a newborn ;) )

Cooked mexican food for dinner. Guacamole and other tasty parts of the meal turned out very good.
